UrbanBetter Bangkok Cityzens Hub
Co-creating a Healthy and Climate-Resilient Bangkok
Mission
Empowering youth to drive a healthy and climate-resilient Bangkok through data and co-creation.
What we do
The Bangkok Cityzens Hub, hosted by the Urban Design and Development Center (UDDC-CEUS), empowers youth to strive for a healthy Bangkok by fostering urban environments that enable active mobility and physical activities for a climate-resilient city. We integrate air quality and urban health, equipping youth to monitor data. By bridging data with advocacy, we ensure Bangkok is healthy, active, and resilient for all.
Inclusive Youth Partnerships
Building a strong collaborative network with active youth groups and community leaders focused on urban environmental issues to amplify our impact and ensure diverse voices are represented in Bangkok’s development.
Urban Observatory & Data Literacy
We empower youth to act as a human-powered network for city observation. Our program trains them in on-ground data collection using tools such as sensors and the Cityzens app to monitor air quality, walking comfort, and spatial dynamics. This enables youth to transform raw data into compelling, evidence-based narratives for the public and authorities.
Collaborative Advocacy & Co-Creation
We host participatory platforms such as workshops or design challenges to bridge youth with a network of partners and experts. We focus on co-creating solutions and piloting youth-led ideas with target groups to test feasibility and gather community feedback.
Precision Advocacy
We bridge the gap between community-generated evidence and strategic decision-makers. By facilitating direct policy dialogues with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and strategic partners, we ensure that data-backed findings and youth-led insights drive urban policy and catalyse institutional decision-making processes.
Scope of work
Year 1: Foundation & Community Presence

Focusing on the launch of the Urban Observatory. We will train youth in data collection and monitor key urban metrics (e.g., air quality and environmental accessibility) in priority districts. The primary goal is to establish a community presence and present ground-level evidence to district leaders to initiate formal dialogues on urban governance.
Year 2: Strategic Engagement & Piloting

We transform accumulated data into strategic outputs such as policy recommendations or public campaigns. We prioritise hosting collaborative platforms to refine youth-led ideas into proven use cases through strategic pilots. These results are then presented via Precision Advocacy channels to ensure youth perspectives are heard, valued, and integrated into the continuous development of a more liveable city.
Year 3: Policy Integration & Scaling

Elevating youth proposals to the BMA to influence official urban development and health policies. We strengthen collaboration for youth to provide ongoing data and feedback to city planners, while documenting the 'Bangkok Model' to scale proven use cases and the sensor network to other cities or regions.
Our thematic areas of work are:
Main activities
Building youth agency
We co‑produce action‑focused research at the nexus of health, climate and urbanisation, with Cityzens Hubs and city governments, rooted in local priorities.
Generating citizen science evidence for influence
We build intergenerational leadership pipelines among youth, practitioners and policymakers to anticipate, design, and act for healthier, climate-resilient cities.
